Description

A hamper someone else filled is a guess. This one is yours. Choose the size
that suits the occasion, then walk the counter and take what you actually want:
the cheddar you always go back to, the blue nobody else in the house will touch,
the chorizo that disappears first. Nothing is fixed and nothing is chosen for
you.

Everything is cut the morning it goes out. The cheeses are whole until you
order, the meats are sliced to weight, and the jars and biscuits come from the
same shelves we sell across the counter. If you would rather not think about it,
there are three ready combinations further down that we send out most often.

How it works

  1. Choose a hamper. Six, nine or twelve pieces.
  2. Fill it. Search for something by name if you know what you
are after, or browse a counter at a time.
  3. We pack it. Each piece wrapped, labelled and laid into the
basket, with a card if it is going to someone else.

On the counter today

Hard cheese. The backbone of a board, and the pieces that
keep longest once it is open. Farmhouse cheddar, mature cheddar, manchego,
parmesan, gruyere, aged gouda, pecorino, red leicester.

Soft cheese. Best eaten within a few days, and worth taking
out of the fridge early. Brie, camembert, a goats cheese log, burrata, ricotta,
buffalo mozzarella, halloumi, feta.

Blue cheese. One is plenty for most boards, two if the house
is fond of them. Blue stilton, roquefort, gorgonzola, dolcelatte, shropshire
blue, cambozola, danish blue.

Charcuterie. Sliced to weight and folded rather than
stacked, so it comes out of the paper the way it went in. Milano salami,
prosciutto, chorizo, coppa, bresaola, pastrami, country pate, air dried ham.

To go beside them. The parts people forget and then miss.
Fig chutney, caramelised onion chutney, oatcakes, water biscuits, green olives,
honeycomb, quince paste, walnuts, red grapes.

Not sure where to start

A Sunday board for two. Farmhouse cheddar, brie, blue
stilton, prosciutto, fig chutney, oatcakes. Six pieces, and the shape most of
our regulars order.

For someone who likes the strong stuff. Roquefort,
gorgonzola, mature cheddar, pecorino, bresaola, honeycomb, walnuts, water
biscuits, quince paste. Nine pieces.

A household at Christmas. Twelve pieces, three or four
cheeses, two meats, and the rest given over to chutneys, biscuits, olives and
grapes so it stretches across a week of picking at it.

Sizes

Six pieces, £39. Two or three people, one sitting.
Nine pieces, £54. A proper board with something left over.
Twelve pieces, £68. A household, or a long weekend.

The bigger the hamper, the better the price per piece.

Sending it as a gift

Add your message at the checkout and we will write it on the card by hand,
keep the prices off the packing note, and send the hamper straight to them. If
you want it to land on a particular day, say so and we will hold it back.

Keeping it well

Cheese travels wrapped in paper rather than plastic, which is why it arrives
smelling of cheese and not of the fridge. Take it out an hour before you want to
eat it, and put anything you are not opening this week in the door of the fridge,
loosely wrapped. The hard cheeses will be happy for a fortnight. The soft ones
want eating.

Packing and delivery

Baskets go out Monday to Thursday so that nothing sits in a depot over a
weekend, chilled, with the cold packs sized to the journey rather than the
season. The basket is a real one and worth keeping.
